The 'spiritual' predecessor to the GP2X portable gaming device, the Pandora (http://www.openpandora.org/) is due to be released in the next few months. Like the GP2X, its firmware is based on the Linux kernal, but this machine will feature a much fuller GNU/Linux distro.

Given than Novashell works with Linux, I was wondering what the possibilites of it working on this (ARM-based) device are? It would be an awesome development environment for the unit and surely make Novashell the only visual game development environment capable of producing games for portable devices (ok, A portable device, but hey!)

I've asked the question on tha Pandora forums too.

If Clanlib itself can be made to run on it, Novashell shouldn't be a problem either.

And as long as it has OGL support, Clanlib 0.8 'should' be made to run on it... hmm, might have to pick up one. :)

Hehe yea they do look pretty cool. I'm saving up my pennies (well, frantically paying off my credit cards to make sure there's enough room!) for one of the first batch. My old GP2X has outlived its usefullness and has made its way to Ebayland! :)

Do you operate a donations sytem? I'd be more than happy to help with a little towards the cost if you are planning on getting a unit.

i would love to be able to make games that easily translate to a sweet portable.

Wow... this thing looks amazing. I will DEFINATELY pick one of these up once I get the $$$. Chrono Trigger on the go? Yes, please! (Not to mention its a portable music player (any format I want :D) with theoretically unlimited storage.

I just recently played Crisis Core: FF7 on the PSP, awesome rendered cutscenes. The thought of developing a game like that for a handheld in 720x480 (or is it 800?) no less has me giddy, lol.
