View Full Version : Server slows down over time

I've been receiving complaints from the FQ players that my game is very slow to respond sometimes (I've noticed this myself as well). *After running for a long time (12 - 18 hours) the game starts to slow down considerably, and even on the local end, it is slow to respond in the FQ Server screen. *When I check the memory usage, it looks like it's using around 40% more than when it was originally started up. *If I shutdown the FQ Server application and re-run it, the game functions perfectly again and memory use goes back to normal until many hours later. *

Has anyone else had this problem, and is this a known issue? Thanks!

Hmm, I haven't seen that here but then again I haven't run my own FQ server for quite a while. *If anybody else is experiencing this please let me know.

Random idea: One thing you could do is have the server shutdown and restart at 3 AM everyday, you could use my utility Toolfish to do it, if that works out for you I could hook you up with a Toolfish unlock key.

I haven't notice a memory leak in FQv0.94 and I don't restart the process unless it crashes (which does less frequently now that I've moved the game to a faster machine).

Hi Seth --

I am using Toolfish -just purchased last night- to reset the game. However, if Toolfish closes the application, I get an "MFC Exception Error" (or something along those lines) from Funeral Quest. I have Toolfish clicking past the error message as well. http://www.rtsoft.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/down.gif I only get that error message if Toolfish closes FQ Server.

On an unrelated note: What does "autosave" do in the FQ Server?

Hmm, I'll check that out with the MFC error on close, perhaps I'm screwing up during the shutdown process.

Autosave saved the game periodically, in case of power failure or crash.
