Problem with opening console

Hey im a new time user, going through the Tutorials. I have no programming expereince but thought i will give it ago when i stumbled upon novashell.

Im on Tutoral: Getting started part 4: Dragon Eggs - Scripting and getting a controllable player

After adding my first script player.lua it says open console so i pressed the ` button under Esc and nothing happens, can someone help me with this as i cant continue learning without the console openning.

I have windows 7 and a wired HP keyboard and i can press these `¬ ~ on here but when i press in novashell nothing happens.

Update: After pressing every button I could find. I found out that the ' which shares the same button with @ brought up the console, not the button under escape. can carry on now with the tutorials :)
