Non-Tournament games don't seem very appealing to me... basically one person (or perhaps a few people) are going to dominate over the entire game, like WarMaid is doing on the Deathstalkers Realm. Actually, it doesn't seem that bad now, she 'only' has a 40k lead over 2nd place, I thought it was much greater than that a while ago.
Anyway, how about an optional slightly-altered Rule set?
1) All Upgrades (including Psy, HP, Str, maybe Hearses) will only last a limited number of days, like 3.
2) Upgrading a skill re-extends the deadline for 3 days. So if you buy Psy 2 on Monday (which would go back to 1 on Thursday if no upgrades), and then buy Psy 3 on Wednesday, it would be extended.
3) Eventually, the players would have to make some hard (strategy-wise) decisions. Eventually, evenly upgrading is going to cost more than they can afford (forcing them to focus on one or two, or lose them all), and they'll have to go back down to the default.
4) Instead of keeping track of the total BPs (and gravestones?), keep track of the total BPs over the past (insert number here, 7, 14?) days.
That way, people would never be guaranteed their top position. And new-comers could make their way up the list, with some hard work. And people could feel free to not play for a few days, knowing they could come back later. It might take a while... but they could still come back. And people could make a mistake, learn, and bounce back.
It might take a bit of tweaking too... like HP and STR seem too high priced in a game like this, or maybe not. *shrugs*
I dunno... I'd be much more interested playing a non-tournament game like this, rather than the way it is now.
