is there a way to kill these giant beasts or what?

Do you mean those things that look like apes? Oh, sure! You just need a regular bow, bow lore, a little luck, and you can defeat them. Or, you can save up, get a massive bow, and buy that, or even better, get a FIRE BOW!! But best of all, you can get hellfire and bust `em in one hit! Course, that thing takes FOREVER to charge! http://www.rtsoft.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif If you find enough blue potions, however, then you can defeat those guys without worrying much about life and use a light sword.

or you can get light sword and slash them into little tiny pieces.

Hard not to get hit, when one or two whacks will kill Dink...the herb boots would come in handy right about this time.
