Thread: Getting Setup

    Default Getting Setup

    I am using Microsoft Visual 2005 .Net

    I am trying to build one of the examples, but I get this error:
    1>LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'clanSignals-static-mt-debug.lib'
    1>Build log was saved at "file://d:\ZipProgrammingFiles\GameEngines\ClanLib-0.8.0\ClanLib-0.8.0\Examples\Basic2D\Debug\BuildLog.htm"
    1>ExampleBasic2D - 1 error(s), 0 warning(s)
    ========== Build: 0 succeeded, 1 failed, 0 up-to-date, 0 skipped ==========

    I can't find that lib file anywhere, can anyone point me in the right direction?

    I am also noticing that all of the includes need to be changed.

    This is what they look like:
    #include <ClanLib/display.h>
    #include <ClanLib/gl.h>
    #include <ClanLib/core.h>
    #include <ClanLib/sound.h>
    #include <ClanLib/mikmod.h>
    #include <ClanLib/application.h>

    I end up having to change them to this:
    #include <../../Source/API/display.h>

    Am I doing this right, or is there something I should be made aware of.

    The first error and the second problem indicates that you are not building the libraries but rather trying to build the library files in your application project? Right?
    If I'm right you should build the library files (including the missing clanSignal) before starting on your app.

    Step 1. Build configure project.
    Step 2. Run configure wizard.
    Step 3. Load ClanLib project.
    Step 4. Build ClanLib libs, in all varieties you will use (static linkage multi-threaded debug for instance, as in your error message)

    The second problem, with the include paths, is a configuration. I'm using VS 2003 so I'm guessing here: Tools | Options | Project | VC++ Directories. Add include directory to where you installed ClanLib, and also add the library directry where your library output ends up.
