Thread: Xbox 360 Controller Support

    Default Xbox 360 Controller Support

Is there any way to add support for the Xbox 360 controller using the XNA input DLLs or the controller DLLs? Otherwise, I'll just have to setup another gamepad.

Novashell currently doesn't support any gamepad/joysticks. (Clanlib does, it's just not wired into the novashell input system yet)

But when I add this I will make sure my 360 controller works and we can read full proportional data from both stick axis. I want to do an example shooter that uses one stick for moving, one stick for shooting.

Sweet, your example game idea sounds like it could be really cool. How long do you think it will be before support is added?

    Default joystiq...

    hey seth,

just read the apr 18th update on the joystick support. does the part about os x mean that it is not supported yet for mac? or is it something clanlib has to sort out?

great to see you chugging along...

    edit...

    gamepad companion

will these apps be able to help mac users of novashell until a better 'fix' comes along. they allow you to map controls globally or to specific apps for joystick/gamepad use

Yep, that's exactly right. The support is there in novashell, but not Clanlib it turns out. (Not many mac clanlibbers it turns out..) It'd be great if someone could add support, but if not I'll think about doing it myself at some point as well.

Little update, full XBOX controller was added over the weekend, along with a game to test it. Check it out here! At some point it will be cleaned up and converted into an example.

This is a zip packaged with the (Win) engine, a good example of how you might distribute your own game.

    cool game example,

no gamepad to test for it yet, but i'll be getting one.

i want to try out those two programs i listed in this thread, to see if they get usability for gamepads on novashell games for mac.

it seems like novashell may be slowly creeping into the gamedev collective hive consciousness. can't wait to see it catch on big time.

    great work seth!!!!!!!!!!!!
