I had written some neat routines for CL_Canvas in 0.8, which is not part of svn 0.9

Where would I look to replicate/convert these effects? Just use a separate CL_FrameBuffer or CL_RenderBuffer? Isn't that all CL_Canvas was anyway?

I guess my only issue is the methods/accessors are quite different now. And documentation is so sparse, it's hard to make heads or tails.
