    Hey Seth,
    Listen, I'd like to know where you start when creating games. I know you would first think of a storyline, but when creating an engine, where do you start??? What file types do YOU use, stuff like that.

    I use Visual C++ and DirectX.

    Building an engine from scratch is a lot of work!! These days I do everything in little separate classes with a very modular approach. For instance, I wrote a new scripting system that can "plug-in" to Lawn Mower, but it can also plug into some weird console text game without any changes if needed. Same for the sound module.
