Does anyone know how to rationalize a polynomial?

Do you mean something like this?
http://www.webmath.com/polymult.html
It'l give you the step by step instructions but simplifying/ multiplying polynomials is easy. Do what it tells you, then add the extra exponents together.

Can you give an example problem?

I was looking at the wrong problem,I meant rationalizing the denominator.
Doing the whole conjugate thing is so confusing.

2/ 2+Square root of 5

Something like that

Hmm could you draw the problem out? Threw it in a calculator as you put and got 3.blah. Order of operations? Do you have a picture of your homework? Ill solve a problem for you and give step by step instructions :P

You can't rationalize a denominator in a calculator.

Never mind, figured it out

1.I just multiply by the conjugate
2.then distribute
3.combine any like terms
4.finally I reduce it

Yay you figured it out, I dont recall ever seeing those kind of problems in algebra1 or algebra2 :P

It's Collage Algebra, I am thinking of talking calculus in senior year.

Take calculus over everything else. Though im not a senior yet I had a senior friend tell me its one of his easiest classes and that people stress it for no reason :P

It's not easy,it is just the next step :P
If you did great in Algebra 2, take a Trig course. Then take a Calculus course. (Trig is the first unit in Calculus anyways)
