Here in Texas, we study all year for one state exam.
We sit in a room, all day, not allowed to do anything, even if we finish the test.
If we are caught using our phone, our parents have to pay 30 bucks to get it back.

The educational system is so messed up. Kids, don't get into the teaching career. You will regret it :prophet:

What school has taught me:
Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.
And then other stuff I probably won't need, unless it the specific subject you NEED to learn so you can get your job, and it might be only one subject you need to learn. So, then the other knowledge of the other subjects goes to a waste. [Unless you're planning to go to those game shows to win $$$]

In some schools from Romania (like mine) you can't use your phone at all, and if you get caught, you need to wait until school ends to get it back :(

What school taught me:

I forgot. Nah just kidding. Our teachers make efforts to help us get jobs, support our family and continue the human race...

When I think about it, I don't know why we even exist to do this.

There's this video on YouTube called don't stay in school.
The guy has really good points. Here is one of them:

We never learn the laws that we have now (only the ones from 1000s of years ago)

I think you guys are "Overreacting" a little bit. School isn't that bad, you guys are just looking at some down sides (and yes those are some good points but usually theres a bright side somewhere there). I hope soon some of you will realize the importance of school.

And on the educational note, SAMDACAT talks about this girl being bullied but there's (probably) more to it. Like the teacher showing how someone FEELS when bullied/insulted, or maybe your just in health class. (But i swear if none of these are applied then you should reconsider on the school your on. Not saying its bad just saying its a little offtopic if it doesn't apply to what i said)

We once got a paper full of questions of a text we didn't got.
Someone asked where the text is, the teacher said: "Make one"

Text? Is it suppose to represent a lesson on something, because if its a lesson and the teacher gave a quiz on the lesson without telling them then its kind of not right. But if the teacher says that to advance study and you didn't come prepared for it, then it is technically your fault. But if not you should really report it to your principal or whoever is in charge

But every edicational system is (usually) different and not all of them are the same some are strict some are loose some just in between the middle Here in the Philippines i like to think of our school a school that lacks... Discipline (and i really sound old for saying that but please listen)

A school is usually judged from two types, the dicipline and attitude of the student.(but at least were gonna talk about this. There is more but... You know stuff) and i believe these two are the ones that are crippled and needs to be fixed like for example. We have an assembly (basically when a batch of 8th graders come to an area to assemble and the level coordinator to give out some announcements) so normally everyone falls in-line and just stays quiet, but the problem is it was the COMPLETE OPPOSITE i noticed everyone was in just a random order everyone talking and the level coordinator just trying to grasp everyone's attention. So like normal average try hard i am, i ask my friends and some people from the other section to quiet down and listen and it worked... For 10 seconds until every one started talking again until the level coordinator so i listened and she was trying to make everyone calm down. It took (in my estimation) 9-12 minutes to actually gain their attention. The announcements were short nothing out of concept. But everyone just kept talking, noone listening just chatting and stuff. And thats what i think about the problem every school has discipline its just the one thing that determines what the schools attitude will be toward you and i know you can't really do that now cause times have changed and everyone is kind of different. But i like to believe with enough determination things can change you know? And it seems far fetched and WAAAYY offtopic but i just wanted to point out that teachers went through what you guys are putting up to right now. And that they're also working hard. That their jobs aren't easy ( and infact harder when you think about it) that they also work hard to make their living because they built their lives on this living that when they were going for a career they chose this because it was (probably. Sorry not always correct :-( ) a wise decision for them.

but yeah all-in-all teachers work hard to that their lives aren't as easy as yours. They didn't have fancy education like you, they work hard to make a living that it's not a cakewalk to teach a noisy bunch for 8 hours ya know? Just saying dont be to hard on them if they're just sitting down. Cause they all pretty much stand up for the entire day (at least in our school).

What school has taught me:
1. Living in this world is a crappy thing to do, but dying is simply unoriginal.
2. To cuss. Like a pro.
3. Facts about drugs (mostly from classm8z)
4. Some math stuff
5. How to draw loomernati symbols with graffiti on walls, on chairs, desks and on anything that a key can leave mark on.
6. How to talk as if you were high (all you have to do is listen to our art teacher and try and do the exact same)

It wasn't. Lol. It was soooo frickin' off topic. But it was funny so I'm all good.

By the way, why the hell have y'all started on why school sucks? Lol I actually like school, I just think this is weird.

It's dangerous to have such a bad attitude toward school. If you have the right attitude school does train your mind. I'm sure you'll all use the "Oh I'll never use trigonomic identities in real life" argument but again, the point is it develops your ability to problem solve. History, one of the ones I feel is most important: "those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it". Science, so you understand how to world works, obviously important. Language, needed to cultivate thoughts and then manifest them. One way you can see this is instead of being so negative about school and just memorizing, actually understand what's being taught and you'll see the benefits.
Maybe it's just something that comes with age and maturity. Maybe just who you hang around with. I can guarantee you that a year ago I'd be on the complete opposite side of the arguement, but now I see how important it is to get educated. Thinking about making a thread relating to that, maybe someday.

What I learned in school: Question the norms. Question what they teach. Don't just believe in anything you hear even if it's from a teacher. Because of this, I always notice what's wrong in this thing, event, or whatever even if I know that I commit mistakes, too. :sweatdrop:

Oh and we watched a movie where a guy got rejected by this girl who gave him a handkerchief with her menstrual blood on it. It's educational, mind you. :D

anyone who can guess the movie will get a wl
