To me, drawing something a certain way is just preference. It's just if the artist likes it better that way or not.

#LessWeeaboos

Because realism branches off into furries, and no one wants to see that...

The message or sort of reasoning behind a certain use of a method or median ,unless given a real explanation by the artist themselves, remains to be obscure and subjective to viewers.

Differences in eyes could signify many things in the personality of the person in a drawing. It could make a person a sharper, gruff individual or a calm, soothing person just by the difference in pupils.

So there is no right or wrong way of drawing the eye using either of those way right?

No, art is subjective, it matters what the artist feels is right or wrong (although people may confuse constructive criticism for an opinion).

Whatever method, median, or style you have is fine as long it works along the boundaries of what you are trying to portray.
