Hi everyone,

I am trying to run Novashell under my Wolvix Linux distribution but I get the following error:

No hardware acceleration available. I hope you got a really fast machine..
X Error of failed request: GLXUnsupportedPrivateRequest
Major opcode of failed request: 142 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 16 (X_GLXVendorPrivate)
Serial number of failed request: 238
Current serial number in output stream: 240

I am sort of a Linux lamer :o, so I guess the issue is quite self-explanatory to other, more savvy folks ...

Anything I can do about this? It would be really great to tinker with Novashell...

Cheers,

Diego

usually the easiest way to get around something like that is to install wine and run the windows client, or to install an ati or nvidia graphics card with proprietary drivers. or so i'm told.

The version of Clanlib that Novashell uses requires hardware OpenGL support, so I assume your card/drivers just aren't setup for it.

If other 3D HW games are working, then it might be something I could fix on my end though.

Hi donotparsego, hi Seth,

Thank you both for the replies.
I would actually prefere to have novashell running directly under Linux, not via Wine.
I will try and google how to activate OpenGL support on my card. I will come back in case ...
