I'm wondering why they skip number 9 and go right ahead to 10 (probably because they functions a lot for Window.)
Oh sorry but this is the wrong sub-forum, this belong to RTsoft Tavern.

Because 9 is an unlucky number in Japan, which is a part that Microsoft has a lot of coverage on. Imagin if they made Windows 13, the unlucky number.

There's also a rumor that it's so it won't confuse legacy computers that check for the OS in a different way and may get confused between 95 and 9.

Fun Fact: many buildings skip the floor number 13 completely!

This, I forgot that in my last post.

It was WIndows 95 and 97-2003. Again, some computers may not be compatible because of that, so they changed it to 10.

My father's friend told me this happens because something goes wrong with the system when it detects 9. He said it sees the 9 as the first 9 in 98, so it would downgrade to Windows 98. :sweatdrop:

That's nice! I used to know a person that was born on February 29, which was only every 4 years. We would joke about how he was just 3 years old because of that.

Windows 9 was released to just military in 2014 because it was specificly made just for military uses only

Nope. Military uses Windows XP because it's much more reliable. It's my favorite OS.

Actually, there is a Windows 9, just not advertised. It goes 8.0, 8.1, 8.2 and blah blah. You probably have it before Windows 10.

yay guessing.

I might be wrong but I think it was something with coding and windows 95 and they would've had to replace everything or something. (I have no idea what I'm talking about, don't judge:crazy:)

Nope, actually, Windows 10 is not V10, but v6.4 of Windows!

No, wait. Windows 9 never existed. It was called Windows 10 so it wouldn't be confused with the horrid Windows 8.
Also Windows 10 is the OS for all of Microsoft's new products. Yay, Xbox 10.. lol

I heard this story about a guy who was planning on bungee jumping. He knew the height of each room, and figured there were ??? rooms (atleast more than 13). He made the rope exactly long enough to not touch the ground, but since he forgot about there not being a number 13, he hit the ground and died.

IIRC That's a myth. Nobody would make the rope so close from the ground, and if he did, the rop slows down near the bottom.

This is a growtopia general chat, not a window OS version discussion! I guess you should have posted that on the windows forums (if they have).

I know, I just wanted to share the story cause I find it rather amusing.

They skipped windows 9 because windows 8 was a fail.
Not many peoples wanted it, because it was so unaccustomed.
So with windows 10 they want to let this "fail" behind and start with a new, good number.
10 sounds much better than 9 for a new era, thats all.

No, that's not true. Windows 8.1 wasn't a fail, 8 was. Vista was a failure too, and it still has support.

RTsoft Tavern is a place you can talk about anything. That's why no one said wrong sub-forum, it's in the correct sub-forum.
