Help I have a test in multiplying and dividing decimals through fractions. HALP

Ex.

2.3 * 3.2 = 6.60

23/10 * 32/10 = 66/100

Most of the questions are like this too.

4.8 / 4 = ?!?!

( / = divide )

Note: * is multiply, try to use / next time.

Anyway, 4.8/4 = 1.2. What you try to do is to disregard the decimal point, divide, then put it back where it should be. Be careful, though.

I also don't understand when to get the reciprocal when dividing? I think?

When you divide fractions, all you need to do is multiply the fraction by the reciprocal.
(example of reciprocal. 3/4's reciprocal is 4/3)

That's a totally different topic. Fractions, right? % = Divide, m'kay?

When you divide two fractions, eg. (1/2 % 2/3), you need to get the reciprocal of the divisor, or the second number, then change the sign to multiplication. So the equation becomes something like this:
(1/2 x 3/2) = 3/4

If you have trouble with decimal division, just multiply each of the numbers by 10, 100, 1000, etc. The point is you don't want any decimals.

Ex : 6.9/3 = (6.9x10)/(3x10) = 69/30 = 23/10 = 2.3 (you know how to do this right?)

If you have trouble with decimal division, just multiply each of the numbers by 10, 100, 1000, etc. The point is you don't want any decimals.

48/10 x 1/4 (turn it upside down okay)

48 / 40
---------------- : 4 (read: divided by four)

Lucky it's just multiply and divide of fractions... We have to deal with x's and y's and occasional Z,A,B and C.

my secret to get good grades in math...

listen to the teacher in class. Tutor or parents won't be able to do much help. By listening to how it is done, after 1 or 2 examples, I allready know how to do it.

Ehh, luckily imaginary numbers are a piece of cake, so I'm spending my time studying trigonometry :rolleyes:

I haven't dealt with imaginary numbers (yet), but I am interested in them. Like, (-1)1/2 IS IMPOSSIBLE!!!

He is good at math but sucks at teaching. And also my science teacher.

Convert the fractions to decimals, then multiply as you normally would.
