So today in ap world we were talking about how terrible Christopher Columbus was and the teacher brought up the Lewis and Clark expedition. Apparently there was this interesting dude with them named York. He was Lewis and Clark's slave. So, when they were out exploring Lewis and Clark encountered Native Americans and tried to make good relationships with them by raping their women. They didn't see the irony I guess. Anyway, Native Americans have never seen a black man. The only black thing they have seen is a black bear so when they saw York they thought he was half black bear. What better way to raise strong warriors than to have them be 1/4 black bear. lmao Lewis and Clark were rejected while York was sought after. I think he had a lot of fun on that expedition...you know, with the women

Yeah it's not mentioned in very many textbooks
