I don't think anything can help you :sweatdrop:. Unless if you know the words that will come up on the quiz then you should memorize the words.

You just have to know how the spelling rules work. Most people can spell because of their good instinct of each word's spelling. For example, words like picturesque. If you know that some words can end with -que, that should help. And you better get your listening skills up, and watch out for silent letters, etc.

You don't really need to memorize words, but you need to get the basic concept of the spelling of the words with the same pronunciation but a complex way of either spelling or pronouncing the word.

In turkish all words are read as they are written. :sweatdrop: :prophet:

Lucky you. I should learn Turkish.

I've done spelling bees for 4 years now, and one main thing you need to know is how different languages spell different pronunciations. Some languages may always pronounce "IE" like "E" but others may pronounce it like "EI". It is very helpful to know that. Always be sure to ask for the language of origin.
