If you're on Mac, you can use QuickTime. It comes with it and its decent. You can download it for windows too but I'm not sure how it works there.

Is it free, and is it no lag?

Yes it is free, and depends what you're using to record. I record GT on it an it works perfectly fine. If you're recording anything bigger though I doubt it.

I'd recommend Hypercam 4. It's not really free, but if your free license expires, you can still use it for free. Also, it never lagged when i used it.

Bandicam is probably good enough if you're gonna make short videos (under 10 minutes), or you can just record multiple videos and edit them together to make a longer one. Just crop out the watermark that bandicam leaves :p
