I think it's time to upgrade my gpu, but I don't know if my CPU will bottleneck if I get a 1080?! I'm not sure what motherboard I have since I had it pre-built and they didn't have all the specs. Yeah I know, what a 'noob' in computer building I am but I've asked them and they don't know. Currently it's in a repairshop because the gpu was running too hot (luckily I had a week warranty left). When the warranty runs out I should be able to open my computer without ruining my warranty and I'll be able to see what kind of stuff I have in this bad boy. Expecting to have to upgrade my psu. But for now - will the cpu bottleneck the gpu?

No, a i73770k won't bottleneck a gtx1080

^^^^^^^ I don't expect that it should either, because the i5 still has enough horsepower to keep up with the new architectures.

Short answer: no

Long answer: no need for one, the architecture of that CPU handles well a bunch of modern cards I know

Get the new i7-6950X that has 10 cores costs you $1,500 m9.

Can't tell if you're serious or not.
