View Full Version : TLM - AdWare.Win32.BetterInternet Infection ?

I played the Teenage Lawnmower demo many years ago and really liked it, but admittedly didn't want to spend the $20 it was at the time. It was always in the back of my mind, so today I wanted to install the demo again to see if it would run on my computer (64-bit and such) before buying. However, when I try to download the demo from rtsoft.com, my antivirus software instantly quarantines the download because it reportedly contains "AdWare.Win32.BetterInternet.gck (http://www.f-secure.com/sw-desc/adware_w32_betterinternet.shtml)". I understand adware supported demos, but something that attaches itself permanently to explorer.exe doesn't sound good.

Would you mind elaborating on this?

I've never had AdWare on any of my demos!

To be safe, I just downloaded it from rtsoft.com and ran it through my virus checkers and it checks out clean with whatever firefox is using, and MSSE.

Is it possible your computer is infected and it's infecting the .exe right after you download it? Or perhaps a false positive, possibly related to the installer, which is NSIS.
