Hello everyone! I decided to make a thread about nostalgia, any video game you used to play or any tv programs you watched or whatever you did when you were younger, feel free to post here, (or if you have yet to discover you nostalgic moments then simply sit back, and see what others used to do).
I am 15, I used to play a lot of old games, and to me they were nostalgic, I used to watch a few awesome tv programs (that now don't exist or is just much different from back in the day)

RULES:

Please please please keep the thread on topic, Don't do something silly like derail the thread, I surely wont appreciate it.

Post anything you used to do when you were younger, but keep it appropriate, spoiler anything you think may be somewhat disturbing to younger people.

Have fun!

Ok in no particular order, I will start off with a few things I really enjoyed when I was younger.

Robot wars
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjnNt1tgzC4

This show was really cool for a kid who used to like seeing things get destroyed, I later learned that making the robots was pretty interesting, but you just couldn't beat watching these beautiful works of engineering, get smashed, cut, burned and flipped around and completely destroyed. Violent? Yes, pure awesome? YES!!

ZOMG!!! I found a whole episode! It was in the next series but I still loved it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhyABigxfeY

Fort boyard
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov7oVTiyXmQ

This was a really good, exciting game show set in the ancient Fort Boyard, it had people solving ridiculous riddles and running to one end of the fort to do a challenge, and zip lining back, the end was amazing too, I can clearly remember people grabbing golden coins falling into a large cage and the total weight they gathered was converted into money to go to a charity. The theme song is pretty cool too.

OMGOMGOMG!!! I found a full episode of this too! this is pretty recent, but the concept is the same and the challenges are just as cool (if not better) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNpujj1Zai4

And now for some video games, (oh boy I have a good long list of these)

And in no particular order, here are the games.

Platypus
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRbk6_nvlwU

This funky shoot em up had me on the edge of my seat for a long time! The levels were insanely hard and as a kid I struggled to complete it, but I managed to in the end, the techno soundtrack was catchy and unique (at the time), the graphics was pretty respectable as it was practically done by hand, modelling and all.
The gameplay was insanely difficult, One hit and you are dead, bullet hell, tons of enemies... You get the idea. But when you kill a boss, oh the satisfaction... EPIC!!!
The demos that the devs were insane too, how they managed not to die I have no idea.
There was also a hectic multiplier co-op, I played this on my pc (I heard they ported this to the Xbox, psp and Ios too!)
here is some gameplay I found
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjftyNC-irw
This was only level 1, but believe me, it gets really hectic later on, (fun fact, I had the arcade version, stuck at hard difficulty)

Gain ground
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG1FRBvbtOE (You don't have to watch the whole thing, this is the whole game in one video)
I used to have a sega genesis when I was little, no, I wasn't THAT old, my mum brought it for us because she used to have one, it had many games like sonic 1, 2 and three, echo the dolphin, Alex the kid and many, many others, but I want to talk about Gain Ground, it's not that popular (probably because of it's steep learning curve) but it was pretty fun.
I can only really sum this one up as a strategic shooter, the aim is to get all your characters across safely or kill every enemy, you gain more characters by rescuing them, this game was unfair at times and often had some tricks hidden up it's sleeve (like a bunch of charging madmen who would take you out in confined spaces), this game had pretty good music too.

Rollcage, stage 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUPfljOVrj0

I had this on my pc, the graphics were pretty respectable at the time, and it was very darn fun. This game could be completed pretty easy, but you go at lightning speeds and one crash can entirely mess up your chances of winning, there were tons of different cars and the feeling of progression was a good one, this racing game was ported to ps1 earlier, it's a shame I didn't know about that back then...

Dungeon siege
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRmaequjoSg (this song, brings back so many memories)
Dungeon siege was the first ever real RPG I ever played, this game was so diverse, there were bazillion pieces of armor and weapons, hundreds of different spells and tons of enemies to slash those weapons you found at.
The soundtrack was amazing, the gameplay was fun, the story line was good if not linear and there were hundreds and hundreds of secret loot areas and dungeons (I mean HUNDREDS!) I revisited the game a year ago and replayed it, I then learned of a expansion pack (that you had to pay for :() called legends of Arana, I couldn't play the expansion pack but I sure had fun playing mods and extra maps of the game (the editor was fun and simple to use, I even made a small level once), you start of as a simple farmer, but as you progress you form a party of elite warriors ready to kick butt! The progression was very nice and often I found myself choosing between weapons I find (should I go for the swift rapier of burning or the legendary dagger of the fox?) the difficulty was customization to a certain extent (either have it really easy, pretty challenging or IMPOSSIBLE!). The game had a multiplier (I said had because the game servers are now gone, but if you are a dinosaur you could connect to a host via IP still) and the arena deathmatch was fun too, if not glitchy.

Spyro, riptos rage (gateway to gilimar)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDu4-MbrgXU (there are tons of levels, I just happened to find this one first)

Spyro is probably known now for the modern skylanders games (where you spend tons of money for the figures, *shudders*) but I prefer the older games where they were actually decent, there are a number of funny gimmicks in this game, the game itself is not so challenging but some extra jumping puzzles can get on your nerves (they sure did for me), There were a number of glitches that could be exploited to get to places you should really wait later to get to (and I found a good number of glitches), to complete the game 100% and get to the bonus level with minigames you have to do all of the extra side missions, complete every challenge and collect EVERY gem (there were TONS of gems btw) I never managed to do all that, but I had loads of fun playing this one.

Share yours below, perhaps we can discuss about the games you used to play when you was younger (I sound like a old man saying that lol)

When I was young, all I would do for the majority of the day was play the Sly Cooper games on my PS2. I know I'm not the only one.

Also, Final Fantasy 7. :)

*Cough* my household hates cartoons *Cough* I watched shows like The Beverly Hillbillies, Leave it to Beaver, Gilligan's Island, and Bonanza. For a while, I had a DS lite, and 2 games (Pokemon Leaf Green, and Mario Kart). Now I have an iPad and a 3DS and way better games like Growtopia, and Pokemon Y. So yeah. Old stuff. Anybody seen any of the shows I listed?

When
I was younger I would always watch the (classic) Teen titans show. Me and my sis loved it. I would play lots of Gba (Gameboy advance) Games before the Nintendo ds came out. The ORIGINAL Spongebob square pants shows, like the one with the magic conch shell. :3 Also digging a deep hole in my backyard. Then when I went into 6th grade, all that seemed childish to me, but I really miss it lol.

When I was in the 2nd grade, I would really wake up at 4:00 in the morning before I go to school just to watch "Hey Arnold".
Also same with "El Tigre: The adventures of Many Rivera" and "Chowder"
Then I matured and went with Law and Order.

SUPER MARIO FTW :yeah:

I never really played Mario when I was little, I played Sonic on the sega mega drive though (back when Sonic was good, at least Mario is somewhat decent if not for the failing Wii U, at least Nintendo has had a good run)

It may not seem very old, but I had a Nintendo GameCube. And on that I played many games. I especially enjoyed Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door. That game feels nostalgic to me..

But before I played on the GameCube, I played on the NES and the SNES. With Super Mario World and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Fun things. And Mario Kart, and a few miscellaneous games such as Spawn, and Street Fighter. Oh, and Megaman X.

I also played on the PS and the PS2. Final Fantasy VII and VIII among some of the titles I played on those systems. And a few fighting games as well.

I grew up with a NES. I wasted HOURS of my life in front of the TV trying to beat the BattleToads wind tunnel/race level. (I eventually deemed it impossible), Legend of Zelda, The Adventures of Link (Also known as Zelda II), Super Mario Bros/Duck hunt, and a lot of classic games that would take me forever to list. Whenever I see the NES, I am hit with a wave of nostalgia, childhood memories glued to the tv, controller in hand, good times. My cousins also had a N64, where I played a lot of OOT and Majoras Mask.

The Halo series was my childhood along with the game called World of Warcraft I loved them. I remember one day I was with my uncle playing on the original xbox then my Dad came home with the game Halo and my uncle and I loved it. And on one of the mission where you get a tank we named ours Tanky (Original I Know :D) then there was a stage were there where pillars and no vehicles could pass and we were devastated. We now play Halo 1 again and we still love it. So thats my story thanks for reading!

*UPDATE*
Forgot about my N64 I loved that so much I remember playing the original mario on it forgot the name and it was so fun then playing mario kart. I was about 13 when my mum decided to throw it away and I was devastated because I loved it and she thaught it was *Cringes* Trash :(

I never had any console when I was younger. I spent the first few years of my life in a small, rather rural town. The first ever proper games I ever remember playing were Club Penguin and RuneScape

Runescape used to be good. I remember playing it for a while, got to level 60 then suddenly quit. Just took way too much of my time.

Club penguin... I can recall a really old game before Disney took it over called penguin chat. It kinda failed though...

I used to play this retro game booth in the arcade called "Street fighter"
Going there during Sundays was really hard, everyone lined up their coins up the ledge.
Good times, good ol' times.
