One downside will be that people would look at you as if you're crazy.
Yeah it looks awesome, but I've played these types of games before where you have to walk all around, and although it's a cool concept, I usually stay in my house, especially for games that (I'm assuming) need an Internet connection. Plus Mewto was seen in New York city, right? So I'm guessing that you'd actually have to travel to certain places like you do for ingress, and not hope to walk into something while in your house.
