    Default I got a question...

Let's say, I download a virus but I don't open it, I re-name it "Hotline Miami 2" (cool game btw) and then make a Youtube video called "How to download HM2 for free [PC] 2015" and I say that the link to download the game is in the description, but instead of the game I post the re-named virus, let's say the virus deletes everything on the user's computer so it's unusable... There are no witnesses to post that it's a virus in the comments...

Is there a way to detect it's a virus? What would be my punishment for doing this?

simply, antiviruses. AVG, ESET NOD32, AVIRA are great anti-viruses that you can see people using come accross. right-click the thing you downloaded and you should see one of these buttons: Scan with <antivirus name>. also, if you promoted the game as a non-virus for people to download even thou it's a virus, you might get punished. but not in growtopia, anything that's 99%+ unrelated to growtopia won't get you punished. probably.
